"Horse Eats Consciousness"

For baritone voice and digital delay, duration 5 mins (1992)

 

Program note

Horse Eats Consciousness is a setting of one line of a poem by the American Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Most of the text consists of nonsense syllables, derived from the sounds in the words "horse eats consciousness" by means of a computer program. The accompaniment for the piece consists of a digital delay, set to give a delay of two seconds throughout the piece.
